failing young hitters in India is receiving much support from their superiors. Two days later the captain MS Dhoni said he was not too worried about batting collapses in Dambulla tri-series, Virender Sehwag has also supported their less experienced teammates to deliver.

The quartet of Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthi Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have managed only 94 runs between them throughout the tournament. But India is still in the end, in the back of two solo efforts Sehwag resulting in two wins.

"When I was young, I took about 50-70 innings, consistent performance, so we have to allow more time for young people," said Sehwag. "We're not worried about them too much because in Dambulla, all without scoring. We have to live with it and give young people a little confidence and tell them to go out and spend some time in the window."

India's batsmen have kept busy gardeners wicketkeepers opposition and slip, giving almost half of their windows to catch in that area. Dhoni had asked his batsmen to be more decisive in his stroke selection, particularly off the balls out. But on Wednesday two batters of India to first order, Karthik and Kohli, floating down precisely in these deliveries.

"It's very easy to say we should stop the ball or hit it according to their merit, but it is very difficult to react according to the merit of the ball," said Sehwag. "When we were young, would have been confused whether to continue or abandon. It used to be tempting to hit and we would go out in the confusion. It is important to make it or play the ball outside off rather than defend them."

Sehwag, the batter only of the three parties to reach an agreement with seam and swing in Dambulla, advises caution in the early stages of the innings. India scores after 15 acquisitions in its league games were 54 for 5, 47 for 3, 56 for 3 and 81 for 4.

"If you see outside the top 10 to 15 credits, it becomes easier to bat. But the first acquisitions are difficult to survive," he said. "If you see off the new ball (even) without scoring much in the first 15 credits, which helps the team a lot."

Saturday's final could be the last chance for the likes of Rohit Kohli and to press for a permanent place in the side, as top batsmen including Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir could return to the team a day for the home series against Australia October.
